Herniated Discs

Bulging, protruding, or extruded herniated discs may cause back pain and sciatica. This diagnosis usually indicates a more serious condition where surgery may be considered.

A herniated disc is a common injury that can affect any part of the spine. A herniated disc can cause severe pain and other problems in the arms or legs.

Do you have a herniated disc?

What symptoms should you look for if you suspect you may be suffering from a herniated disc? Symptoms from a herniated disc will usually result in persistent pain that does not go away with rest, epidural blocks or medication. Back pain or leg pain may be present together.

What are your treatment options?

If there is evidence of nerve damage, usually some type of surgical intervention is needed to resolve the pain before permanent nerve damage results.
