DISC was proud to again support Larry Fitzgerald, Jr. with his annual Fitz’s Supper Club Celebrities at Your Service dinner that took place Monday, August 25, 2014. The Arizona Cardinal’s star wide receiver makes a difference on the field and in the community. Fitzgerald and his teammates wore aprons and served tables at Dominick’s Steakhouse in Scottsdale to raise money for his charities to help fight breast cancer and to provide programs for inner city youth, via the First Down Fund. Last year $250,000 was raised and he hopes to top that this year. We congratulate you, Larry, on your impact on and off the field!
“I wouldn’t be anything if it weren’t for this community. They’ve appreciated me. They’ve supported me. They’ve uplifted me. I just try to do everything that I can to make sure that they know that I care and appreciate them for everything they’ve done.” – Larry Fitzgerald, Jr.
On the evening of May 10, 2014, the Asian Pacific Community in Action (APCA) honored St. Luke’s Health Initiative, Dr. Anthony Yeung, and Josefina “Jo” Barone, MBA, RN, for their contributions to improving the health and lives of countless Arizonans.
Dr. Yeung, former President a long-time member of the MCMS, was the recipient of a APCA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Some of the biggest names in sports traded in their helmets and uniforms for plates and aprons at Morton’s to help raise funds for Larry Fitzgerald Jr’s charities. During the “Celebrity Servers at Morton’s” events, guests enjoyed signature steakhouse cuisine as they met with the best and biggest names in sports! Over the past three years, this event series has donated nearly $3 million to worthwhile organizations.
DISC continues to be a major sponsor of the event and is proud to help raise money and awareness for the Carol Fitzgerald Foundation and First Down Fund.
What a fun day! Over 275 people showed up for the first annual “We’ve Got Your Back” Race in Scottsdale on February 8, 2014. Race proceeds benefitted The Spinal Research Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding new cures for those suffering from spinal disorders. Patients who have overcome their back or neck pain received special “Spinal Champion” tees to honor them on race day.
Thank you so much to the race sponsors and volunteers who made this day possible. We look forward to another great race in February 2015!
DISC would like to give a special thank you to Jennifer Ann Marie of LIV Photography for donating her time and skills to cover the 2014 Scottsdale “We’ve Got Your Back” Race. The photos are amazing and do a great job of telling the stories of all the people who were involved in making this event great!
