People in pain should not have to wait
Our mission is to provide outstanding and compassionate non-operative and operative care using the least invasive yet most effective treatments available to restore our patients’ active lifestyles.
In 1998, orthopedic specialist in minimally invasive spine surgery, Anthony T. Yeung M.D., founded the spine-focused out patient surgery center known as Squaw Peak Surgical Facility, the first spine focused ASC in the USA. Christopher A. Yeung M.D. and Justin S. Field M.D. later joined him in practice to form Desert Institute for Spine Care.
DISC is a comprehensive spine practice focused on endoscopic spine surgery and the latest minimally invasive treatment options. DISC offers the full spectrum of spine care from non-surgical treatment to traditional open decompressive procedures, disc replacement, Dynamic stabilization and fusion.
DISC offers a one-stop clinic to patients whom are not candidates for surgery. All types of spine conditions are diagnosed, treated and rehabilitated. Doctors in the clinic work closely with pain management and rehab specialists to provide well-rounded care.
DISC aims to accurately diagnose pain generators that cause spine-based pain through minimally invasive diagnostic techniques, therapeutic injections and procedures under local anesthesia and mild sedation. We are experienced in non-surgical diagnostic and therapeutic techniques including: nerve blocks, medial branch and facet injections, transforaminal epidurals, caudal epidurals, sympathetic blocks and evocative discography to help define the pain generators. Not to mention traditional imaging tests including MRI, CT, myelogram, x-rays and EMG/NCV. Once the sources of pain are delineated, we offer patients thorough treatment plans tailored to their individual needs.
Our specialties include evocative discography™, selective endoscopic discectomy™, thermal annuloplasty, transforaminal decompression and dorsal endoscopically guided rhizotomy. Over a span of twenty years, Dr. Anthony Yeung developed and refined these techniques and philosophies collectively described as YESS™. They represent the optimal combination of a minimally invasive surgical approach and Failed Back Surgery Syndrome. For the minimally invasive surgical approach effectively treats discogenic pain, disc herniations, lumbar spondylosis, facet arthrosis and foraminal stenosis while Failed Back Surgery Syndrome answers to recurrent HNP, residual lateral stenosis and adjacent level pain.
Desert Institute for Spine Care complements traditional surgery procedures with MIS endoscopic surgery. Squaw Peak Surgical Facility offers a 23-hour stay with skilled post-operative pain control and monitoring for the more extensive surgical fusion procedures
The DISC philosophy continues to be validated by our evolving techniques that continue to bring more options to patients suffering from back pain and sciatica.
