Endoscopic Surgery

Percutaneous Transforaminal, Selective Endoscopic Discectomy (SED, a DISC specialty procedure) is the least invasive, most effective method for herniated discs that can be decompressed.

Extruded, sequestered herniations are considered more appropriate for open microdiscectomy than percutaneous transforaminal discectomy because access allows more dissection to expose the extruded disc fragment.

However, if the surgeon has excellent surgical skills and extensive experience as demonstrated by his/her surgical experience, good results and even superior results can be achieved because there is less surgical morbidity and faster recovery.
